Distinctive Unit Insignia


Description/Blazon
A gold color metal and enamel device 1 1/8 inches (2.86 cm) in diameter consisting of four brick red arrowheads conjoined at center with their points on the secondary positions of the compass and centered upon a white quatrefoil its four lobes positioned between the points of the arrowheads, all enclosed by a blue annulet inscribed with the words "MAINTAIN, RECOVER, REPAIR."

Symbolism
Brick red and golden yellow are the colors associated with the Transportation branch. The quatrefoil lobes, simulating white wheels, symbolize the basic mission of transportation and the blue outer ring refers to the unit's overseas service in Africa, Italy, France and Germany during World War II. The arrowheads denote participation in four amphibious landings.

Background
The distinctive unit insignia was approved on 4 April 1980.

Azure, a quatrefoil Argent the lobes voided of the field, surmounted by four arrowheads in saltire Gules (Brick Red), conjoined at fess point, the points outward, all within a bordure Or.

Crest

That for the regiments and separate battalions of the Army Reserve: From a wreath Argent and Azure, the Lexington Minute Man Proper. The statue of the Minute Man, Captain John Parker (H.H. Kitson, sculptor), stands on the common in Lexington, Massachusetts.
